Today is our little Jaden's 2nd birthday. No, we didn't have a party for him. We got him a cute cake and a few toys. I did feel a little bad that we still couldn't give him a party like his 1st birthday. We just moved here where we are and we don't know a lot of people yet. But Joe and I promised him we're going to give him a real nice big birthday party next year. :D
Anyway, today was still fun. We wanted to go out have some nice dinner somewhere tonight but with about 6 inches of snow on the ground today, we though it would be a pain to do that. So we will try and go another night.

Birthday Dinner |
A very good friend took me to a really nice dinner on my birthday last Friday night at an American restaurant called Mike's American.
I liked the total ambience of the restaurant- bright, warm, and cozy. Our table was lit up with a few tea light candles. Although it's supposed to be a very popular restaurant in the Springfield (Virginia) part of town, the restaurant wasn't crowded at all.
Anyway, I had me a filet mignon and crabcake combo with mashed potatoes..mmm yummy! I enjoyed my meal with a glass of white zinfandel wine. It was a great birthday night. To my wonderful friend, thank you so much! :D

Thoughts from Home |
Today I received two text messages on my phone from two of my sisters in the Philippines. They were sending me an advanced "happy birthday" greeting. Yes, I will be a year older tomorrow, Friday, December 5th. :)
So what are my birthday plans? Nothing really. A friend is going to take me out to dinner that night. And during the day of course, I will just be with the family. But if someone were to ask me what I want for my birthday, I'd like a full day of relaxation by myself being pampered in a spa with all kinds of treats for my tired, aching body..aahhh. Or a day on a beach with my family...or exploring new places like Maine or Massachusetts.. or watching a live show in vegas wouldn't be bad ideas to spend my birthday either.
Ahhh..just daydreaming. :)

Gabriel's 3rd Birthday Party |
Last July 3rd was my son Gabriel's birthday- same day we left for the Philippines. Yes, we were on the plane on his birthday! You wonder why. Well, hard to explain, but we had to leave that day (of all days!).
Anyway, I felt bad about this that I told my sister to plan a birthday party for Gabriel when we arrive in the Philippines, since we didn't get to do it in the US.
Last Saturday, we gave him a very nice birthday party at Jollibee (like a McDonald's in the US). It was so much fun and my son had a blast! In fact, we all did. I took so many pictures but haven't had the chance to download them on my laptop yet. I will share them with you all once I have them- promise!
I'm posting a couple pictures of the Jollibee mascot here- he's very famous with kids here in the Philippines. Gabriel is still in that stage where he gets scared with new things though. At first, he almost wanted to cry, but when he saw all the kids having fun with Jollibee (mascot), he started to smile and didn't mind having his pictures taken with the mascot eventually. :)
