Travel-Hungry

The nice thing about me and my boyfriend Dan is that we're both travel-hungry people-always wanting to go places, lol. Even if it's just a day trip to a winery or checking out an old town with quaint shops or museums to explore, it's always an exciting activity for him and I. :D

So lately we've been considering about going for a weekend trip somewhere close by where we could just drive to it and stay for a few days. There's the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh, Georgia, or even Westgate in Florida. Hmmm, it's hard to pick but who knows where we end up going next? It changes with our situation with the kids and my availability. My boys are with me every other weekend and so if there are weekend travel plans that include them, we make sure it falls on the weekend that they're with me, and vice versa. So let's see where we end up going. I'm excited! :D

Great Help on the Plane

With two little ones on a long plane trip, you have to do a lot of research on how you can make the trip a little easier on yourself and your kids.

First, I am very grateful for my friend Loyna's mom (Nanay Gloria)- she was a great help to me with my kids. Also, I was lucky to have a DVD player to play my toddler's favorite Disney and Baby Einstein DVD's- was a great entertainment! I also thought the doodle pads and coloring books were great toys to have, as well as little trains and cars.

My new Peg Perego Tender CSR stroller was an absolutely helpful baby gear to have- I don't know what I would have done without it! Anyway, watch out for my review on this great double stroller courtesy of Peg Perego. :)

6 Days More To Go!

Lately, I've been finding myself humming the classic "Leaving on a Jet Plane" song, LOL. Sheer excitement.

Yes, July 3rd Wednesday is a big day for us. It's not only Gabriel's 3rd birthday, it's also the day we leave for the big trip to the Philippines. All the bags are packed, except for the carryon. I still have to sort out the really needed things to pack because I'm only allowed up to 40 lbs for it. With two little toddlers in tow, chances are- it will just be bottles, snacks, spare clothes, and toys for the two of them. Not much room for mommy's stuff anymore. But it's okay. As long as they got what they need, I am just happy. :)

My Travel Carryon Bag

So last night I made my list of things to have on my carryon bag. Packing for myself and two little boys prove to be a little more challenging than I thought. But I'm getting there so that's what's more important.

Can You Suggest Great Toys for Plane Travel?

I am totally psyched about my up and coming trip to the Philippines to visit my siblings, whom I have not seen in three years. My last visit was in late 2005 so I'm excited to see everyone again.

It will just be me and my two little boys, Gabriel and Jaden. As excited as I am however, I can't help feeling anxious about being on a long plane ride with my babies. I know it will be a real challenge trying to keep up with my kiddos. The one thing that gives me reassurance is that I will have my girlfriend Loyna's mom (I call her Nanay Gloria) to accompany and help me with my kids on this long 27-hour trip. I know she will help me a lot, but still..(sigh).

By the way, do you all have any suggestions for toys or activities for kids ages 1-3 years old that are suitable for plane travel? Something that you might have already tried and tested on your trips with your kids?

I've been reading up a lot on this topic online and saw this very interesting website about a mom who travels 2-3 times a year on long international travels with her 3 little kids. She was very informative and I like the fact that she writes from experience. I'm also glad I will have an opportunity to sample the most talked about product in kid travel safety called CARES, a child aviation restraint system that's approved by the FAA, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the National Transportation Safety Board. I will be reviewing this very helpful travel safety product for kids on Hip Mama's Place, most likely after I have used it on the plane trip.
