My Toddler Has Started Talking Now...

Gabriel, my two year old had been working with two different people from the early intervention services to help him with speech for about three months now. One lady is a speech therapist named Erika and the other lady named Joy is a child specialist who helps him with day-to-day activities like dressing himself, tying up shoelaces, following simple directions, etc.

Recently, our baby has been showing significant improvement on his speech. At present, he loves counting and saying the alphabets. The other day I was playing with him in bed while trying to put him to sleep and we were counting from 1-20. I tested him by saying the first number then I pretended like I don't know the next number and you know what happened? I was so amazed because I thought he only remembers counting up to number 10. But when we stopped at the number 10, he said "yeeeeyyy" for eleven, then "tweeee..." for twelve and what's so funny is when I waited for him to say the number 13, he said "te-teeeen". I was like, "Wow, baby! You are so smart!". I cried with joy and tickled him so hard he couldn't stop laughing. My boy is talking now! Isn't that great? I couldn't wait to tell his daddy when he got home from work that night and his reaction was: "Get outta here! Are you serious???" with a big smile on his face and went on to say, "Wow, that's amazing". :)

Another amazing thing he has been doing is he will point to the letters of the alphabet and says them correctly, like when he points to letter A, he'll say "A", "B" for letter B and so on.

A few other new words he has now are: "No,no,no"..when you say no to whatever you don't want him to do. And "cookie" for if he asks for a cookie. :)

So to Joy and Erika, if you are reading my blog, "THANK YOU SO MUCH! YOU BOTH ARE DOING AN AWESOME JOB HELPING OUR LITTLE BOY!".

It is always exciting when our little ones start to talk...I was going to look into early intervention for my little guy but after he had tubes put in his ears last year he started talking and doing everything else that he was having trouble with...what a difference I see in him today.

Happy Holidays
