DFW Fil-Am Hip Mamas and Babies Meetup

When we first moved to Dallas, I started thinking how I can alleviate (wow, that's a strong word ain't it?)--boredom--staying home all day. I mean, it's not that my hands aren't full all day. See..there's Gabriel who was almost a year old, a crowded 2-bdroom apartment, and a baby-like husband to take care of (LOL). Besides that, I was two months pregnant with my second son Jaden, who's now five months old.

But I was starting to get a little lonely--friends were far--mostly from Houston, and I hardly talk to my family in the Philippines anymore. I get occassional calls from my sister nurse Grace, who's in Trinidad and Tobago, but other than that, I was socially-deprived, so to speak. I just needed to connect with other people, somebody close...

So went I on meetup.com one day and formed my own Fil-Am moms group, in the hope of meeting moms in the area in the similar situation as I was--new to the place, no friends, no siblings, just a husband and a kid. :)

Eventually we grew to a few members to now 28--not everyone is active of course, but it was enough to keep me going as a group organizer. I've been organizing events for this group since we started back in August last year. We visit different places of interest in the DFW area, we go to play centers, parks, picnics, and even moms night outs..now I have a little social life! (LOL).

We have a group video made, courtesy of my group assistant Vhiel V...(I'll never know how to improve the group site without you!)..she's one of my group inspiration. :)

So we're going to celebrate our 1st year anniversary on August 10th! Yayyyyy!!! I can't believe we've all gone this far..I am truly thrilled. :)

We're going to a water park in The Colony..called The Hawaiian Falls on August 25th..I'm sure we'll all have fun and lots of splashing!
