My brother Randy just opened a new business- a "carinderia"- translated: "a little restaurant where people go to.. what else? eat".
It's in a very good location within the biggest public market in Cagayan de Oro City called Cogon Market. So far the business has been good. There are more people who go for lunch than breakfast or dinner. He also put a big karaoke machine inside his carinderia- one of those coin-operated ones to invite more people to eat and stay longer so they could drink beer and such. He was thinking about giving away a few promotional products like shirts and shopping bags with his business logo when he opened the little restaurant two weeks ago, but ended up giving away free sodas for the first 100 customers. :)

Wow! Good for him.
My mom just did too. And she's saying she's been liking it a lot. Though sometimes she feels sorry for students who can't afford a dish so they just buy rice and asked her for soup.
