Appearance-conscious

A few days ago, I saw an episode on Oprah about fairly beautiful women wanting to go through different types of cosmetic surgery to enhance a certain feature on their faces. One of the women featured on the show was a 25 year old young woman from an Asian-American descent whose nose looked normal and fine to me, but she seem to fret about it and was talking about how insecure she is all her life because she had a 'big nose'.

So then this woman talked about going through a rhinoplasty, also known as a nose job. A cosmetic surgeon from a San Diego nose surgery clinic was then interviewed to talk about what a rhinoplasty surgery involves. Of course, there were a lot of women in Oprah's audience who expressed their opposition on going through cosmetic procedures to enhance one's appearance.

I for one, was amazed about this one particular woman who has unfounded insecurities about her appearance. She could be a confident woman, if only she stops being so appearance-conscious and focus more on her strong points-- such as being a successful lawyer who has her own practice, and having a lot of friends and family who surrounds her.
