How did your weekend go?
Saturday for me was beautiful. My honey and I attended a nice wedding of our friends- the bride was a Filipino girl I've met a few months ago through Dan's friend and co-worker who was her fiance. Anyway, it was a simple but beautiful wedding and although it was one of those quickly put together weddings, it turned out very well. Even the groom's speech was well-said before the champagne toast. Everyone commented how he didn't have any stage fright and how he could very well be a politician for his almost perfect speech. :D
Anyway, here are a few of our photos from the wedding.
Sunday was just all about house chores and laundry. Although I am not complaining about it. Those things are needed to be done and I feel proud at the end of the day when I know I am doing good enough as a mother and partner. ;)
Please share how your weekend went. I'd love to know! :D

In For Drug Rehab |
Yesterday, I met with some friends for lunch and talked about high school classmates-where they are now and what they're up to. There were happy notes and sad notes as well. There were several classmates we know who are now successful career men and women, local politicians, and big-time business owners.
The saddest story I've heard was one of our classmates- known to be a comic in class-died from heart attack right after delivering her third baby earlier last year. It brought tears in my eyes. I felt bad for the baby, most of all.
Then another girl classmate has been in out of drug rehab for several years now. There were even talks of her being already suicidal. Wow, I couldn't believe it. She used to be real pretty and popular in school. But she wasted a good future because she went with the wrong crowd and got hooked on drugs. I just hope she will find real help with the new drug rehabilitation center she recently got in to, or she will really be wasted away. So sad, isn't it?

Fun Get-Together |
So yesterday I saw some of my old friends from ten years ago. They were my co-teachers and really great buddies from when I used to teach at the local Montessori school here in Cagayan de Oro City. We met for dinner and had a wonderful get-together. Of course, all of us are now mommies. Even a few of them brought their kids with them ranging from 10 years old down to two years old. I couldn't bring my two boys with me because they were already tired from an excursion we had with my family earlier in the day. When I left the house at 5PM, both my babies were already knocked out.
Anyways, it was so much fun chatting and reminiscing happy moments my friends and I shared together so many years ago.
One of them is applying for a teaching job in the US. It's somewhere in California and so they asked me if I was familiar with California. I told them I've never lived there although I've been there several times on short family vacations. The conversations with my friends went from California to Vegas vacations to parenting and the funny and unusual ways we all deal with and rear our children.
All in all, it was a fun get-together with all of them!

Wouldn't This Make You Want To Cry? |
I was out all afternoon today running my last few errands before my big trip to the Philippines. Wow, three days more and I will be on the plane with my boys. Excitement, anxiety, sadness- really, it's a mix up of joyful, not-so-joyful emotions. ;)
Anyway, I came back this evening and opened my email inbox to find an email from my very good friend Cathy who I've met from the moms group that I organized here in Dallas about 2 years ago (well, almost..our group will be 2 years old this August).
She wrote this for me and my eyes welled with tears..I was so touched.
Read here: "This Is Not Goodbye"
Thanks so much Cathy! You are such a sweet and wonderful friend! I won't forget that about you! :)

Ruth, Our German Friend |
A recent TV ad on New York hair transplants reminded me of our friend from Germany named Ruth. She came here in the U.S. as an exchange teacher and worked as a public school teacher for a local ISD in Houston, Texas where we (hubby and I) met her. She's now back to her home country, got married there and she has now a three year old son. We email one another from time to time.
I know. You think, "why hair transplants"? LOL. Well, she had problems with thinning hair at the time we were hanging out with her. She always wanted to have thicker hair and even thought about getting a hair transplant done. I just thought of her when I saw the TV ad this morning, that's all. ;)
